St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School

Providing Excellence in Catholic Education for Western Pinal County

Preschool Program Description

St. Anthony of Padua’s Preschool offers an Early Childhood Development program for children from the ages of three (3) years to five (5) years of age.  According to state regulations, a child must be fully potty-trained.  Our purpose is to provide a safe, healthy, and caring learning environment.  We strive to identify the strengths and needs of our program in order to promote the highest quality education for our students.  The curriculum is developmentally-appropriate and includes child-initiated and child-directed activities within a framework provided by a teacher.  Please know that we work hard to ensure that our Pre-Kindergarten program is aligned with our kindergarten expectations so that our students have a seamless transition when moving on to kindergarten.  Weekly and/or monthly thematic units are presented in a center-based environment that will include stimulation of the child’s cognitive, emotional, physical, social development and spiritual growth.

The Preschool classes follow the regular school year calendar.  Classes begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday.  The school will be closed for holidays as noted on the school calendar.  Parents must sign the children in each morning.  The Department of Health Services, 150 N. 18th Ave., Phoenix, AZ  85007-3244, Phone 602-364-2439, regulates the Preschool.

Preschool Philosophy Statement

St. Anthony of Padua Preschool provides an educational atmosphere where children foster a love of learning and grow to their fullest potentials.  Parents are viewed as the primary educators and it is the school’s wish to work with parents in helping children grow spiritually, socially, educationally and physically.  Our environment encourages hands-on learning opportunities and enables children to be creative using problem solving skills as part of the learning process.
